TUTOR WITH THE FUND’S CAREER AWARENESS PROGRAM

Tutor and mentor a middle school student (12-15 years old); help with academic skill building in math, language arts and social studies. The program is held once a week on either Monday, Tuesday,  or Thursday evenings (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) at The Fund's midtown office. Each tutor and student keep a journal, and select a book to read together. A twelve week commitment is required. Volunteers need to meet with Fresh Air Fund staff and attend an orientation before participating.

Dates: Weekly commitment starting the week of September 22nd. Orientation: September 17th.    Time: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The Fresh Air Fund Office (633 Third Ave. between 40th and 41st Streets).

PIZZA PARTY STUFFING NIGHT

Help stuff invitations for The Fund's upcoming Annual Fall Benefit and Silent Auction: THE MIRRORED BALL, an evening of glitter, glamour and good will.

Date: Wednesday, September 24th.

6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Place:
The Fresh Air Fund Office (633 Third Ave. between 40th and 41st Streets).

MENTOR WITH THE FUND’S CAREER AWARENESS PROGRAM

Mentor High School students in The Fresh Air Fund's PreOccupations Club. Volunteers help students to gain a better sense of self-confidence and prepare themselves for the world in which we live. Students learn through a series of workshops in areas such as Money Management, Resume Writing, Decisions and Consequences, Maintaining Focus and Assessing Priorities, Setting Goals, College Decisions, and Relationships and Ethics. Mentors work on an individual and small group basis. Volunteers need to make a seven week commitment and meet with a staff member prior to the orientation.

Dates:  Orientation/Planning Meeting: Wednesday October 15th. Weekly commitment:  Wednesday, October 22nd - Wednesday, December, 3rd.
Time: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The Fresh Air Fund Office (633 Third Avenue, 14th Floor, between 40th and 41st Streets).

Host a Job-Shadowing for students in The Fund's Career Awareness Program

Invite a small group of students (12-15 years old) to visit your office and learn more about your career field. Job-shadowings are typically an hour and a half and take place after school (4:45 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.) or on Saturdays. The Fund’s staff chaperone all job-shadowings and can help you plan all of the details!
